The Shire of East Pilbara is a well-established Local Government Authority in Western Australia, which services the town sites of Newman, Marble Bar, Nullagine and local communities.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has now arisen to fill the position of Ranger with the Shire of East Pilbara. In this position, the successful applicant will ensure high standards of law, order and public safety are met according to legislation, Shire policies and objectives. This will include but is not limited to, effective delivery of services in areas of community safety, parking, animals, litter, off road vehicles, bush fire control and activities in thoroughfares and public places.

To be successful in this role you must evidence working knowledge of/and experience in the usage of computer systems, information technology and communications equipment. You must possess a current qualification in firearm handling awareness as well as a current police clearance and WA ‘C’ class drivers licence and be prepared to travel throughout the region as required.

The base salary range is between $72,812.16 and $76,419.62 per annum (inclusive of the East Pilbara Allowance, Location Allowance and up to 14.5% superannuation). NOTE: Rangers are required to work on a roster basis and travel throughout the region which attracts penalties and at times overtime payments. Additional benefits include restricted private use of a vehicle with fuel provided, relocation assistance, subsidised housing, electricity and water, 5 weeks annual leave, a uniform allowance, parental leave, eligibility for long service leave, annual travel assistance professional development and a 50% discount for recreational/gym/aquatic memberships and free fitness assessments.

(Currently Rangers are employed on an IFA which allows for the variation of when work is performed, overtime and penalty rates, allowances and leave loading. This will be discussed at the interview with the preferred candidate/s).
