$79,221 – $83,630 pa + Superannuation

Commuter use of a Council vehicle

About us:

About the role:

As the Senior Ranger you will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operational and administrative activities for a team of five. Predominantly based within the office, you must have the ability to step in as required and deal with the more complex Ranger issues and queries and will be responsible for the necessary mentoring, training and development opportunities for staff.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Preparing reports as required.
  • In consultation with the Coordinator Community Safety develop, implement and review community and school educational programmes and events.
  • Monitoring Ranger patrols and investigating complaints,
  • Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring expenditure of the Ranger section.
  • Managing the seizure and detention of animals in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Providing advice and information to the general public and other City officers on matters of legislation, Local Laws and City Policy.
  • Ensuring legislative requirements are implemented and managed, including the Dog Act, Cat Act, Parking Local Laws, Off Road Vehicle Act, Litter Act, Abandoned Vehicles and Bush Fire Act.

Our Ranger section is a busy area; working rotating weekly shifts and undertaking an extensive variety of Ranger duties. Therefore, good time management and administrative skills are required.  We have a strong focus on educating and engaging with the community to ensure Local Laws, Regulations, and/or Legislation are adhered to so strong customer service skills and understanding of applicable legislation is required.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have strong leadership skills and experience in a similar role, including in the interpretation, administration and enforcement of Local Laws, Regulations, and/or Legislation, law enforcement and court prosecutions coupled with exemplary communication and conflict resolution skills.
